Billy Simmons has been a practicing optician in 3 states for over 20 years, starting with his father’s practice in his home town of Macon, Georgia. After graduating from Carnegie Mellon and moving from Pittsburgh to Chicago, Billy realized he was drawn to the shift in the perception of eyewear and eyecare. Formerly with Spex for 9 years, Billy prioritizes his client’s visual needs and craft-fully marries them with the perfect eyewear. He is a Licensed Optician, and has been American Board of Opticianry certified since 2009.
How many pairs of eye glasses do you own? 9 total not including sunglasses!
Favorite Prescription Lenses? Varilux Physio X Design with Crizal Advance anti-reflective coating. It’s my singular most successfully fitted lens for previously progressive non-adapt patients.
Favorite Eyewear Collection? This is a tough call. Lindberg is definitely a contender because of the lightweight characteristics, longevity and design.
Favorite Sunglass Collection? Maui Jim – the unparalleled color enhancements, patented polarization and back surfaced anti-reflective treatment make it my “go to” collection for the avid golfer, tennis player and boater.
Best eyewear selection tip? My mission is to get you outside of your normal parameters. Women have hand bags that make a statement. Men have watches that elicit awe. Both women and men buy shoes to compliment attire. Why should glasses be any different?
